Established in 1948 The Frank H Mann Group is the largest independently owned fruit and vegetable wholesaler in the South West of England. We have traded profitably for over 60 years as a family business and the Grandson of the founder is on the board of directors.
Based on the edge of Torquay our 25,000 square foot warehouse and vegetable processing facility is ideally placed to cover Devon and Cornwall; from the Somerset border right across Devon and Cornwall to Penzance. Using our fleet of refrigerated vehicles we are delivering six days per week to over 1,000 addresses across the region.
What makes us unique amongst fruit & vegetable wholesalers in the South West is the quality and quantity of the local produce we collect and deliver across the region. No other wholesaler can boast that they collect freshly harvested produce daily from more farms than we do; we have the choice of over 60! Neither can they claim to deliver more local produce than we do; it was over 3,500 tonnes last year!
We pride ourselves in having exceptional levels of customer care, because we are the only fruit & vegetable wholesaler in the South West to have dedicated telesales executives and field sales executives, linked together to a specific, small group of customers. This means that our clientele enjoy very high levels of contact and personal attention.
Moreover, our sales personnel are experienced fruit and vegetable experts, possessing extensive knowledge of our products, ensuring that our customers only receive the best quality and the best, most up to date market information.

Wholesale Supply– Size matters
Critical to the success of Frank H Mann has been our ability to source fruit & vegetables from a large variety of growers who supply throughout England and Europe. Locally grown produce is our speciality, but we are equally able to procure ‘out of season’ and ‘exotic’ produce within hours; sourced from all parts of the globe.
When this powerful supply chain is teamed with our constant source of fresh local produce, direct from over 60 growers throughout the South West, we are able to deliver customers with an unrivalled level of consistency and quality.
Frank H Mann is a primary wholesaler, buying large amounts of produce on a daily basis, direct from grower, market or directly importing from further afield. This means that we do not pay agents fees or any other additional costs. The result of this efficient way of buying stock enables Frank H Mann to be in a position to offer exceptionally competitive prices. In fact, we supply several smaller wholesalers in our region.
Catering & Hospitality – Only the best will do
With the South West relying so heavily on the tourist trade our specialist catering division provides a tailored service specifically for the hospitality industry. Manned by specialist staff the division offers a full and expansive range of fruit and vegetables especially for professional caterers.
Frank H Mann aims to provide the finest products, hand-picked from the very best our stock and lovingly packed into tailor made boxes to ensure that products received in the kitchen are as good as if the chef had come and picked them personally.
Our telesales operation is tailored to suit busy chefs; we make dedicated sales calls at a regular, agreed time of day that doesn’t affect service; right up to midnight if required. Moreover, our sophisticated sales order system has been bespoke designed to capture orders as quickly and efficiently as possible, minimising errors and time on the phone. We also have a monitored ‘out of hours’ answer phone 24/7, so that we never miss an order!
Our Catering division is well aware that we must satisfy a very demanding sector and provide a superlative level of service. Satisfaction is provided by the freshness of the product, a strict quality control, a full and constant availability, coupled with extremely competitive pricing structure.

Prepared Vegetables – Unrivalled quality & price
A key part of the service provided by Frank H Mann is our ability to deliver a wide range of prepared fruit and vegetables to caterers and food processors. We take pride in the fact that we have the largest and best equipped vegetable processing unit in the South West. This means that we can supply high quality, consistent products at unrivalled prices. We can peel, dice, slice, chop or grate fruit and vegetables to countless different sizes and shapes.
Being a food processing area, hygiene is of the utmost importance and we maintain health and safety standards of the highest order with very strict dress codes and hygiene disciplines. We retain the services of a Food Technical consultant to monitor and audit our procedures and control systems.
Frank H Mann only prepare the best possible produce, all bought to strict specifications and on a ‘just in time’ basis to maximise freshness. We produce from orders daily, meaning that what is ordered by a customer is prepared on the same day and delivered the next morning. We are unique, no other vegetable processor can lay claim to a supply chain as short as ours.
We are currently fully accredited members of SALSA (Safe And Local Supplier Approval) approval scheme having first gained accreditation in June 2009. Once we have that under our belt, our sights will be set on achieving BRC Food Standard approval.
